Don Osmond: In my opinion…

Top of the list

A couple months ago I left the Blackberry world and purchased the G1. I never thought I would see the day when I would leave Blackberry; that phone was my brain! If I ever misplaced it, I was lost.

Well, I have a new love now. The G1.

Think iPhone, but better.

I just downloaded a new application for my phone the other day called Phonalyzr. It graphs your phone usage and lets you know who you are calling the most and the time you spend on your phone. (I’m not going to divulge the specifics… it’s a little embarrassing.)

But, I did wanna share one thing I found out… I’m a momma’s boy.

Yep, my mother is the one I call the most.

  1. Well – nothing wrong with that. For me it is my hubby and then probably my Mother who lives several states away and when I call her, she always tries to hurry me off the phone, I have plenty of minutes Mom!!! I have the AT & T 8525, precuser to the tilt and I know what you mean, if I lost that I would be sunk, except that most of it is on my PC as well. But calendar, contacts, pictures, songs, word and excell files (I am a BIG list maker) – I would be so lost.

  2. Aww, Don. How sweet. I would think its the other parent you called.

I think I’m with you too on that too. My mother is the person I called the most or the other way. She calls me the most. Then my best friend who lives in Houston.

Nothing wrong with that. I know your mother needs company when your father is in Vegas.

Anyway. So you were a Blackberry junkie too, huh. I heard your father is the same way. He can’t leave home without that blackberry. Hey Don. Maybe you need to get your father to get one of the G1 phone. I bet he would love that.

I was thinking of getting a blackberry myself. I’m with T-Mobile and they barely got any nice looking phone. Their touch screen phone is soo ugly. I think I’m going to go with a blackberry when my contract ends at the end of this year. That’s when I’m eligible for a full upgrade. It seems so far away.

Tracey. I’m with you. I have 600 minutes, BUT I have 5 myfaves plans. So the people I call the most, I don’t use my minutes. I like my plan. I’ve been with T-Mobile since 2001.

    Have a great weekend, Don.

  3. I’m not surprised by that. And its good to hear too. Kids away from home should always call their parents…even almost 30 yr old kids…lol Not only to check they’re OK but to let them know you are OK too. And whenever you need advice about anything, your Mum should be the first person to ask. She’s a very wise woman your Mum…:)

    Good for you Don.

  4. Meant to add…I hardly use my phone at all. I just have a normal Samsung touchpad flippy thingy. I probably top it up with £10 (about $15) once every two months. I mostly use it just to keep in contact with the kids when they’re out (again..big kids..18 and 21…lol) I don’t have either of my parents any longer and I use MSN and the Landline to keep in contact with my siblings as they live in other countries (USA and Germany). Really, I don’t even know what you’re talking about…Blackberry?, G1?, iphone?…I have know idea…haha

  5. Don. I know what phone you’re talking about now. That was the phone I was talking. LOL I guess I just don’t like where the keys are out. Hidden.

Is it really good? Should I get it later. I don’t know if I can handle a touch screen. I don’t have the patience when something I want, won’t come up.

  7. I think that is very sweet.

I am married with small children and I still call my Mom the most! My sis comes in second, then the husband! HA!!

  8. And there is nothing wrong with that. Mom’s know everything. Hi everyone it has been awhile. Had surgery and still recooping. As for the phones, or blackberries, hard for me to relate. I only carry a cell phone for emergencies. I don’t want to be contacted 24/7. Last time I was on here, Don you were starting with you own business, hope it is going well.

  9. I call my mom the most too. And spend the most amount of time talking to her. Any call over 5 minutes is 80% her. Moms are just the best.

  10. My Mama is definitely the one I call the most; she’s basically my closest friend. Texting is a different matter… depends on the day.

  11. I have to add my two cents regarding Don’s frequent calls to his mother.

My mother would tell all her children, “the day you lose your mother is the day you lose your best friend.” I always thought it was one of her ways to make us feel guilty.

Well, my brother and sister died young (both in their 20’s, I was a teen at the time); my father died six weeks before I got married.

Two years ago this January (2009) my mother passed away. I still reach for the phone to call her or think to myself “I have to get mom’s opinion on this” and then I realize she’s no longer on this earth; but with the rest of my family in the spirit world.

So, Don, you be a momma’s boy for as long as your momma is here. More importantly, let her know how much you love her and let her know it frequently.

  12. My cell phone would reveal a very similar “most called.” I call my mom every day, sometimes two or three times each day.

    Next on my most called:

my 16 year old daughter who is a new driver and checks in with me

    my husband

  13. OK. Technically. I still live with my mother. So I see her every single day, but when she isn’t at home. Yes I definitely called her the most with my best friend, Lydia in a very close second. I talked to her more on the phone since she’s in Houston, TX and I’m in Mississippi.
