My insurance agent is going to kill me.
As some of you know, I went on a motorcycle ride with my younger brother, his friend and my father during the Fourth of July weekend.
Well, during that ride, I was in charge of taking the photos because I was riding “tail” out of the four of us.
It was a beautiful ride; one I will never forget.
We rode up to Flaming Gorge and through Evanston, Wyoming with the intent to purchase a few fireworks for our family’s celebration on the Fourth; sometimes referred to as “The Cul-de-Sac of Fire” — not to be confused with the stadium.
Unfortunately, those plans were extremely altered when we got caught in a nasty thunderstorm as we neared Evanston. We, very literally, were drenched. It was if we had all jumped into a pool.
Soaked to the bone. Not an inch of us was dry.
Not going to lie… it was a little scary. I don’t ride my motorcycle in the rain — ever! I didn’t have much of a choice this time. We were caught unaware.
Suffice it to say, we had a blast; eventually dried off; but, never purchased our fireworks. (I don’t think we would have been able to get them back dry.)

My Birth Month
Call it self-centeredness.
Call it ridiculous.
Call it over-the-top.
…but, I’m going to celebrate my birthday this entire month.
This is a big one for me. And, to be honest, I don’t think I’m looking forward to turning 30. I mean, when I look back at the past 30 years, what has really been accomplished?
OK, probably a lot. However, I don’t think I’ve even scratched the surface of everything I wanted to have done before I turned 30.
Then again, this is not the end of my life, but the beginning. There are so many things I’ve wanted to do, and these are the years that I’m going to do them.
So, in the most self-centered, egotistical, and humble way possible… Happy Birth Month to ME!

Be thankful for moisture
Some may call me crazy, but if you’re following me on Twitter you’ve probably seen one or two comments about how much I love the rain. Let’s just say, “we don’t get much during Utah summers.”
I realize Utahns don’t have much to complain about when comparing weather patterns with Arizona or Nevada. But during these dry months, a little rain is pretty nice every now and then.
However, in Mormondum, rain isn’t called rain. It’s called moisture… and we’re thankful for it. Come to think of it, the same can said about snow, sleet, fog, dew, etc. — it’s all moisture.
During the past couple of weeks, a downpour of moisture has blanketed Salt Lake and the Wasatch Front; twice as much than we typically see in June.
Regardless of whether you’re a moisture lover, you have to admit the city is a lot greener — a little atypical for the summer. Usually this is about this time when the grass begins to thin out and lighten its shade of green. Even the mountains turn a little browner, leading the Bureau of Land Management to post signs prohibiting campers from building fires.
Not so much this summer.
Cloudy skies seem to be a constant around here. It’s almost as though the entire state packed up and moved to Washington. The weather is also a little reminiscent of England; some days the sun is shining, but you better have your ‘brolly’ handy just in case moisture begins to fall from the heavens.
All of this got me thinking; “Why do Mormons call rain ‘moisture’?”
Is it just one of those cultural things that we can’t figure out? Or, did someone happen to mention the word ‘moisture’ in a talk or prayer and we all decided to follow suit?
Whatever the case may be, I find it humorous. I don’t think we can change it. But, the next time you the word ‘moisture’ in church, it’s going to bring a smirk to your face.

Cinco de Mayo
I’m a little late getting this one published today. But, like my English professor always said when I turned in a tardy paper, “Better late than never.”
Anyway, this is just a quick note to all my friends living in Mexico.
(ps. In case you were wondering, Cinco de Mayo is not a celebration of Mexico’s Independence Day. That doesn’t occur until September.)
I hope you all find a way to celebrate today.

Happy Earth Day

Happy Earth Day everyone! Do your part to help maintain the beauty of this Earth. It’s the only one we’ve got.
The Mars Rovers haven’t found water on Mars. So, guess we can’t start planet hopping — yet!

Happy April Fools!
For those of you who didn’t all ready guess it… the last post was an April Fools.
Hope you all were able to pull a good prank on someone today.
Night!

Falling; falling fast
I typically don’t write much about my dating life; try to keep that on a personal level. However, I think I’m falling for a girl I’ve been out with recently.
We’ve been out a few times. I’ve taken her to dinner and rides on my motorcycle (when the weather has been cooperative). Tonight, I plan to do something special for her, but I’m not sure what. I need a couple ideas.
I don’t know if this potentially could result in marriage, but heaven knows my parents would be happy to see me finally settle down with someone special – get on with my life.
Anyway, that’s all for right now. I’m sure I’ll have an update for you after the date tonight.

A Poll for V-Day
I was listening to the radio this morning, and the radio personalities were discussing Valentine’s Day; is the holiday a mutual celebration between both women and men, or is it solely based on the needs/wants of the woman? (I can all ready sense we are going to get a lot of discussion out of this topic.)
From where I sit, it seems to be a holiday for the ladies. But that’s just my male perspective. Logically, a man would want to do something nice for the woman in his life. Couple that with the fact that the holiday centers around the cutesiness of couples, flowers, chocolates, a romantic candle-lit evening… makes sense, doesn’t it?
So… we are going to have a poll.
…and as always, I welcome conversation on the blog.
(If your single… I want your thoughts too! It’s also Single’s Awareness Day.)

December is here!
Ok, I know I griped about hearing Christmas music before we even celebrated Thanksgiving, but… DECEMBER IS HERE!
Let’s get the spirit of Christmas started!
