Post-dinner Phone Call

Filed under: Dating, Day in the Life of... — donosmond @ 3:30 pm

So, ‘ere’s the update from Devin.

Phone rings—

“Devin, what’s up?”

“I just dropped her off, and had to tell you what happened.”

“I’m all ears.”

“K, so, I picked her up at her place. Man, she was looking hot, and real cordial…”

“Hot and cordial… two words I’ve never thought about putting together. Anyway…”

“Yeah well, I’m kinda on cloud nine right now. But, anyway… we went to dinner and it was amazing. We laughed, joked and talked the whole night. She is really easy to talk to. I totally relaxed and opened up. It was just awesome!!!”

“That’s a good thing. You didn’t over share, did you?”

“No. Got close, but no.”

“Good. What do you mean by ‘got close’?”

“Well, I almost said something that could have been construed as…”

(This part of the story has been omitted by request of Devin. Sorry.)

And the conversation continued as thus…

“So, when are you going to ask her out again?”

“I’d like to ask her out for tomorrow, but I figure you might suggest otherwise.”

“Umm, yeah. You need to wait for a little while for her to find her interest in you.”

“Uh?”

“Never mind. Just wait a while.”

“How long?”

“You’ll know. At least wait until next week to call her. Besides, I wouldn’t worry about it. From what you told me about dinner, sounds like she really likes you.”

“You think?”

“Yep!”

I hope this is as much fun for you to read, as it is for me to listen to these stories. I love it!

(For the “posters”: if you’ve got any advice you’d like to give Devin, drop a comment.)

  1. Definately wait a week. If she’s more interested in you than that, you’ll know. Don’t go too fast, it totally scares girls.

  3. As an old married (female) fart, here’s my opinion on the subject. I wouldn’t wait a whole week. If Devin’s really into her, he should wait maybe two days…tops. Girls tend to worry about things like that, and the longer we wait for the phone to ring (especially if the date seemed to go really well, and she was just as into him as he was into her), the more anxious we become. We start to second-guess things: “What if it didn’t go as well as I’d initially thought?”, “What if something happened, and he changed his mind about me?”, “What if he really WAS into me, but is getting cold feet because of it?”. By the time an entire week has past, we’re an anxious, nervous mess! :)

Tell Devin to wait a few days, and give her a call, just to say hey, and to tell her he had a really good time. He can definitely wait a week for another date, if he’d like, but the phone call needs to be pushed up a bit.

Oh, and tell her good luck! Sounds like it might just be the beginning of something wonderful.

    xox,
    C.
