Every so often during my Web search at work, I find these mind-numbing site that cause me to ponder: “What the heck was the developer thinking when they created this site?”
Don’t know what I’m talking about? Click here and find out.
I dare you to leave your Web browser on the site for a half hour… no, 5 minutes! (No cheating — so, turn up the volume on your computer.)

Unreal! Your co-worker needs to find better use… oh gee! I don’t even know what to say.
That’s hilarious!
Don – so I left one of my co-workers alone with leekspin for too long. He had to investigate, and here is what he found:
Background information:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loituma_Girl
Loituma Girl (also known as Leekspin) is a Flash animation set to a karelian gibberish section of the traditional Finnish folk song “Ievan Polkka” (sometimes misspelled Levan Polka) sung by the Finnish quartet Loituma. The song is taken from their 1995 debut album Things of Beauty.[1] It appeared on the Internet in late April 2006 and quickly became popular, drawing over a million viewers.[2] The animation consists of a 4-frame animation of the Bleach anime character Orihime Inoue twirling a leek to a 27-second loop from the song. The animation loops continuously.
Lyrics

yaa tsi tsup ari dik ari dull an dik ari dill an dits tan dool
la dippyduppy dull la roop uttyroopy la goorigan gook aya gittygangool
arup cha cha adippydappydill la baritztandill lan den lan doe
a barik kata barip pari baribadeebadeebadee standen lan doe
ya baril las ten lan day a doe la babadeadevadevadevaduv ya vou
what is that little las day lan doe badakadagadaga doo doo day a doe
Now my co-worker has memorized the lyrics and walks around all day speaking gibberish while annoying and entertaining everyone at the same time.
seriously. 45 seconds. that was my cap.
what in the #$*#(%@ was that?
DON ,
I watched it for the full 30 mins
Now all im singing is that flipping tune,
PLEASE PLEASE DONT DO ANYMORE DARES,
anyone who dares me to do something , i have to do it,just to see what happen’s
here we go
do da da de de da da ,OMG
YOUR BONKERS and so are we,
one thing HAVE YOU DONE THE 30MINS YET.
SEE YOU
ps.got anymore thats brill
I watched it. Or in this case, heard it again for almost 11 minutes.
I wanted to see how long I can go without hitting back button. I went 10 minutes. Yeah.
Now I’m about to lose my mind. I wonder what she’s saying too. The melody is catchy, its just got annoying after 5 minutes. LOL
Don. I think you are trying to drive us to the nut house. IF you are, we’re taking you with us just because you gave us this link.
1 minute 8 seconds….sorry couldn’t bare it any longer.
Was that actually a foreign language she singing it in or just gobbledy gook?
And that would have to be the sort of site you’d come across by accident..I mean…nobody would actually search for that would they?
I LOVED IT! It’s right up with my alley!! Now, I wish it said what language it was and it gave the words so we can sing along. I could have so much fun with this! And I can picture a few people I can annoy with it…. because they don’t have a sense of humor.
I LOVE IT!
I thought whoever was singing had a pretty good voice. It was decent background drone music but NOT for sitting and watching.
I think I could study math to that music or eat to that music. In fact if I ever open a restaurant I’m putting it on my playlist to turn those tables a little more quickly! Ha! Otherwise, the audio of the website beat out many offerings I’ve heard in restaurants……Chinese and Indian come to mind first, including eating Indian IN China.
I could only manage 4:41, and by then I was certain I was going to:
(a) start throwing paper clips at my boss and hope that he would make me get back to work
(b) check myself into a pshyco ward
(c) call the suicide prevention hotline
Oh my!!!!!!!! I wonder if this was developed as device of random and cruel torture?
ha ha ha… You’d think. But, these are the hazards we face on a daily basis. It’s all part of the job of being a PR professional.
Listen… I have three young kids, and their decibel levels get louder, and the noises get stranger, with each passing hour between after school and bedtime. That’s torture enough!
I endured about 53 seconds of your “mind-numbing” site… only because I was wondering what the HECK she had in her hand that she was flipping back and forth??!!
Just curious… when you’re researching, and you stumble upon idiotic sites like this one, do you get to receive any kind of hazard pay???
Sorry April!
Don. I think you have lost it. LOL
It was interesting, but I had no idea what the world that girl was saying. It got annoying after a while.
Oh yeah. What the heck was the developers thinking?
My two year old loved it! (and cried after 15 seconds when I closed the window- thanks a lot Don…)
