Now that I've mentioned my three children, it reminded me that I promised you a couple of stories, didn't I, Don? One of them has to do with my son, who, like I stated, is now 13.

In the year 2000, a new Mormon Temple was built in our area. (http://www.ldschurchtemples.com/boston/) There was a LOT of commotion raised about the erection of such a huge Temple in the neighborhood, but I for one was very excited to see it being built. Although I'm not a Mormon, I love the architecture of all of the Temples, and each time I drove by, I was thrilled to see the progress.

When the Temple was finally complete, our family was going somewhere that required us to take the right onto Concord Turnpike. As we drove past the Temple, we all noticed the angel Moroni had been placed on the very top of the steeple, horn raised high, as if to call upon God Himself.

As we were passing the Temple on our left, our son (then five at the time), noticed the big golden angel, and cried out joyfully, "Look Mama.... it's PIKACHU!"

My husband was driving the car at the time, and I thought for sure we were going to have to pull over, because he and I were both laughing so hard that neither one of us could see straight enough to navigate the car!

What made it even funnier is that our son kept looking at us as if we'd lost our minds, and was completely confused about why we were laughing so hard. He honestly thought that someone had enough foresight to erect a church dedicated to his favorite Pokemon character! :)

We tease our son about that, to this very day. Even if I'm driving alone, I can't help but chuckle every time I look up at that enormous statue.

Out of the mouths of babes. :)

xox,

C.

Susy -- my husband and I actually have three rugrats; a 13-year-old son, a 9-year-old daughter... and our 3-year-old daughter. My husband calls our youngest "a pleasant surprise", although judging by her current attitude and demeanor (the "terrible twos" are DEFINITELY lingering!), I tend to disagree! ;) J/K... I really do love her to bits!

I thought I was "done" with my boy and girl, too -- but our baby girl had other plans. I'd actually had dreams about her for YEARS before I finally had a talk with God, telling Him one night before bed, "Okay...if You really are trying to tell me that there's another little one out there that belongs with us, then bring her to me. I'm ready." I found out I was pregnant with her a little over two weeks later! :)

Being an "advanced age" mom (dontchya just love THAT particular label? It always made me feel like I had to show up for prenatal appointments with a walker or a cane!), didn't come without a not-so-pleasant set of circumstances and consequences. I wound up calling hers my "Murphy's Law" pregnancy, because pretty much anything that could go wrong.... DID.

But, here we are, four years after conception, talking about this little ball of energy that I honestly couldn't imagine my life without.

My advice to you, Susy... follow your heart, and LISTEN. If there's something strongly urging you to bring another person into your family, then maybe that "something' IS that person, telling you he or she wants to come home.

Sorry, Don, to take up space on your blog! :) But, in a way, I can relate this back to you and your family. From what I've heard, your Grandma said the same thing to your Grandpa right after she gave birth to Marie; that she had a dream about one more little one that "belonged" to them, and she wouldn't rest until she had him.

I'm always in such awe over the messages that our Higher Powers give us. We just need to stop and pay attention, I guess.

Okay... I'll quit preaching now! :)

xox,

C.

You're right. It's not polite to ask people their ages; that's why I set it up anonymously. Apparently, people are pretty comfortable freely sharing... :)

... yeah, you keep me laughing.

Even though it's not polite to ask a woman what her age is (and no, I'm not falling for one of your Uncle Wayne's jokes -- I won't tell you my weight, either! :), I'm not a bit ashamed to admit that I'll be 45 years old in a few short weeks. I think I look so fabulous that NO ONE ever believes me when I tell them my age (especially when I'm toting around my 3-year-old! :)

I enjoy you because I have a lot of nieces your age, and they always have considered me the "cool" aunt! ;)

I hope you think I'm a bit "cool", too!

xox,

C.

I am nearly 50. I don't feel 50 and I don't look 50 whatever one look's like for 50. But I don't want to be 30 either. But the reason has nothing to do with age.
ym Nancy
