I met Cameron Rafati at a single’s social last summer; a function I was responsible for setting up and finding entertainment. Well as luck would have it, and through a network of friends, Cameron came highly recommended. He’s a one-man show with a comfortable stage presence; ideal for live music in a casual setting.
Cameron and I have kept in contact for the past few months, and he’s been telling me about a new single he is releasing. He sent me the YouTube video just this evening, and I wanted to share it with everyone reading my blog.
Aside from bubble gum and cookie-cutter produced music, most artists come with their own unique sounds. Cameron is no different. This is his new single Mausoleum. Not your typical music, but very intriguing. It took me a couple listens to pick out the intricacies, but it’s kinda catchy.

So, by now some of you may have noticed the music player at the bottom of my blog, and are probably wondering why that’s there. Well, it may come to you by no surprise that I happen to enjoy music — must be in the blood. And it got me thinking… (Dangerous, I know!)
I frequent a few blogs from time to time, and for the most part I enjoy looking through some peoples’ play list they have posted on their blogs. On more than one occasion, I’ve actually gone to Amazon.com and purchased the music after taking a listen. That’s probably why I have more than 15,000 songs on my iPod.
Anyway, I decided to add this on my blog as a way to share some of the music I’m finding online. I’ll warn you, this list may get pretty eclectic. For those of you on my Facebook page, you know the range of music I listen to. I would say “I’m a little bit country, and I’m a little bit rock and roll” with everything in between.
As a side note, I will be making more changes to my blog in the near future. I’m looking for a new countdown clock for bobsledding again. I know this blog is in need of a serious revamp, so I’ll get to it.
First of all… Thank you to everyone who helped Brandon throughout Showcase. Last night Brandon performed both songs highlighted on Mormon Times and was awarded first place in the competition.
It was a real treat to watch him share his talent with the audience; something he doesn’t do very often.
Thank you to all who have participated in the voting process for my brother Brandon, thus far. I’ve got a good feeling about all this, and am hoping for the best.
As a reminder we’ve only got about one week remaining to vote. They will close the polls on March 2.
Please continue to vote, daily; and let others know about the competition. Thank you all for your help.

Last November, my brother Brandon signed up for the Mormon Times Showcase Competition; singers/song writers share their music, and the Web surfers get to vote. During the first leg of the competition, Brandon was chosen as one of the top four semi-finalists out of more than 30 contestants. Now begins the semi-finals round. The last three months, 12 people have been chosen for this round. We need your help to get him to the finals. This is round will be a lot shorter than the previous voting: Feb 16 through Mar 2. That only gives us 2 weeks! So, let’s get the word out and see if we can get Brandon into the final round. …and thank you all, in advance, for your willingness to help my brother reach his goal. I think this is probably the first time he’s really put himself out there, and shared his music with the world. I love ya, Bro! Go get ‘em!!!
Ok, here’s what you’ve gotta do…
If you don’t all ready have an account with Mormon Times, you’ll need to get one set up. CLICK HERE! (Don’t worry. You don’t need to be a Mormon to sign up, and they will not send missionaries to your home. Everyone I’ve talked to has said they have never received any unsolicited information or spam from the Web site — I was worried about that, too!)
After you’ve signed up and logged in, go to this link — CLICK HERE!
Everyone gets one vote per day, so make sure you go back as often as you remember and vote for him. I’ll be including little reminders at the bottom of my posts as well. (…and if I forget, I’m sure someone will remind me.)
Remember! We’ve only got 2 weeks, so let’s try to get this out to as many people as we possibly can.
I don’t know what the artist was thinking when conceptualize ideas to visually portray their music. Here’s a fine example… But instead of watching the original version, let’s take a look at the literal meaning behind the music video
