I got this in my inbox the other day. What do you think? Legit?
Dear Friend,
This message mighty meet you in the utmost surprise, however it’s just my urgent need for foreign partner that made me to contact you tor this transaction. I am a banker by profession from Burkina Faso in West Africa and currently holding the post of director auditing and accounting unit of the bank.
I have the opportunity of transfering the left over funds ($30.Thirty million US dollars) of one of my bank clients who died along with his entire family on 31, July 2007 in a plane crash. You can confirm the genuiness of the decease death by clicking on this web site
Hence,
I am inviting you for a business deal where this money can be shared between us in the ration of 50% for me, 40% for you, while 10% will be mapped out for expenses.
If you agree to my business proposal. Further details of the transfer will be forwarded to you as soon as I received your return mail and reply to me immediately.
Have a great day.

Yeah right! I swear, we’ve gotta do something about the spamming. It’s a waste of time, and it takes up way too much bandwidth, which could be better spent surfing the web.

I feel so stupid. You mean to tell me that this isn’t a legit deal?
If I had a pound ( UK money ) for every time I got this sort of email I’d be rich ! ( and able to go see your Dad in shows more often !!
) LOL
You know the old adage, “If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is”? I think it would definitely apply here — grammatical errors or not.
xox,
C.
All “DEALS” Should be left ALONE…..
Until I get an e-mail with no grammatical errors and links that return back to a legitimate site, I ain’t looking at it.
Even still, I’ll be a little leery.
That sock tends to got to a place I like to call — the 5th dimension.
yeah, this deal sounds better than trading, innit?
Don — Now THERE’S a great idea for a new business venture! If you can figure out a way to do it, count me in! I’m a typing whiz, and I’ll bounce back those e-mails as fast as my chubby little fingers can go!!
Pamela — sometimes even spam mail squeaks through. I don’t know how it happens, but I liken it to the mystery behind such unanswered questions as, “Where does that one sock go when it disappears from the laundry?”
xox,
C.
Can I have the contact info…..I’m in!
Why didnt that E-mail go to your spam box?
That is where all mine go,
Then I just delete delete delete!!
Pamela
If someone could come up with some way to block spam and charge a penalty fee for sending spam messages, I would be one of their biggest advocates.
Don,
Did you get the links? I thought I asked… but wanted to make sure…Or did you look at him and secretly think oh he was the missionary from hell, and not want to tell me. I’m only kidding. (I have an odd humor once in awhile). I really only met Aaron when he was making his mom sick in her womb and when he was very little. I know his Aunt Cindy very well
Have a good weekend.
By the way…Why do they call it “SPAM”, I really don’t know why???
I get one of those “business deals” on both of my e-mail accounts at least a few times a week. I have some swamp land in Florida I’d like to sell, too!
Think I’d make any money on EBay? Heck, a woman made over $1,000 bucks the other day for a Corn Flake she found in the shape of Idaho (I kid you not!
.
xox,

Yes sadly there are people who fall for this garbage. In addition to the stuff you get through the email, there’s junk mail etc.
That’s life….
I wondered the same thing until my MIL got cancer in her brain and went from a brilliant mind to a brilliant mind which fell into spells of being 6 years old. It was a hard choice for us to take away her adult powers ( of banking for herself) and instead consistently treat her and take care of her like a 6 year old. Her more lucid moments were that of an adult who like most adults desired independence. But she became extremely vulnerable and we worried, so we had to take control of her “business”.
It’s pretty clear, the smarter, less ignorant of us don’t fall prey, the less smart, more ignorant or cerebrally compromised DO. It’s why the elderly and the poor are so often the targets and victims of scams.
It takes a cold, cold greedy heart to do that to the most vulnerable. Shame on them!
And no they don’t have better things to do. They are scamming thieves! And they get good payoff for what they put into it, this way, carrying on with almost impunity.
I think the sound minded should answer posing as interested, ask a lot of really dumb questions, jerk their chains a bit and keep them busy. Reduce the payout while significantly increasing their work!
working in a bank i hear about these emails all the time ( they are used in training examples for fraud) but never known anyone to actually get one!
I totally agree spam is a huge waste of space…A big downside to having a hotmail account.
Yes, people actually fall for this kind of stuff. When I used to work at the bank, we were warned to caution people against this kind of stuff. I’m glad all the readers of this blog are smart enough to know its crap.
I often wonder if there is anyone out there who actually falls for this “business deal?”
At least this one is better than all the spam for viagra, cialis, and other less savory email offers…
I work a support desk, one of my email addresses alias’ is a domainmaster@thecompanyiworkfor email … You can only image the 1000′s of unsavory emails I get on a daily basis. CRAZY!!!
Don’t people have better things to do?
