Christmas Recap

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tags: — donosmond @ 12:05 am

The results of the poll are in, and the verdict is… Dad! I’m sorry to say, but dads are the hardest people to shop for during the holidays.

Coming in second were brothers. (But, they weren’t even a close second.) The close third were mothers, followed by sisters.

And, one poor soul actually admitted to being the hardest person in their family to shop for.

Thanks for participating in the poll. Stay tuned, as I’m sure I’ll come up with another fun poll.

No One’s Home

“Wi Wii” didn’t get back to anyone today…

Yeah, sorry about that. :) But, can you blame us?

Terror in Provo

Filed under: Uncategorized — donosmond @ 4:01 pm

I know, I know… sounds more like a post for October rather than December. But, I just found this on Facebook and thought I would share.

To think something like this actually happening in Provo, Utah is a little concerning; I thought terror only strikes at the nation’s larger cities. I guess I was wrong.

Enjoy!

Christians aren’t Christian during Christmas

Filed under: Day in the Life of... — donosmond @ 2:53 pm

I’m not sure what exactly happened to “tis the season,” but its meaning must’ve changed in recent.

I went up to SLC last night to meet up with an ol’ friend, her husband, and family. The plan was to meet on Temple Square, walk around and enjoy the lights. However, my enjoyment began far before I even got into SLC Central.

Anyone who has driven around TS knows how crowded it gets during the holidays… well, they are doing construction next door, too. I suppose the song Silver Bells refers to the stainless steel apparatuses under the hood of each car – “it’s Christmas time in the city.”

Upon finding a parking space at one of the many chapels, I turned on my blinker to indicate my intention. Apparently, that’s the wrong thing to do. No sooner did I, then a 15-passenger van form the opposing direction sped up to block my path. (Oh no, he didn’t take the spot. Just blocked it. He was of the mentality of, “if I can’t have it, you can’t.”) Very Christian.

After about three episodes of trying to find a parking spot, SUCCESS!!! – And it was a lot closer than the original three. I don’t wish ill upon anyone, especially over Christmas, but… serves them right!

Merry Christmas!

Banged up, Bruised and Blacked out in a Bobsled

Filed under: Day in the Life of..., Health and Fitness — Tags: — donosmond @ 12:02 pm

Over the course of these last 28 years, I’ve endeavored on a lot of “Firsts”: First kiss, First racecar lesson, First whatever… I suppose that is what happens when you are the Firstborn. Last Wednesday was my first true bobsled experience; there have been many events preparing me for this ride.

For the past 2 years, I’ve wanted (dreamed) of riding in a bobsled. Just to experience the rush of moving at near 80 mph on a sheet of ice, being pushed back into my seat by the G-forces pulled.

Well, I got the opportunity a couple days ago. And if you want to read about it, click here.

Just for Fun

So last Halloween, I helped out my friend Kristen snap some photos of children as they were out Trick-o-Treating. She’s a really good photographer and up for hire.

Check out her Web site.

And if you’ve got time you can try to piece together the puzzle below. She took this photo as well.

Holiday Shopping

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tags: — donosmond @ 1:36 pm

In honor of the festival shopping we all participate in this season, I’ve got a poll going.

Who is the most difficult person to shop for?

I’ll post the results on the comments section after Christmas.

Thanks,

Regifting!

Have you ever been given a gift with someone else’s name on it? Chance are you may have fallen victim to a regift; don’t be offended by it. Apparently, it has become a widely accepted act. In fact, today is National Regifting Day!

So, go on! Give someone else that ol’ knit sweater from Auntie Mae you’ve never worn, but been afraid to throw away on the off chance she asks you about it.

I’m sure there’s a White Elephant Party you are going to attend… :)

Forwarding E-mails… Round 3

Filed under: Musing and Writing Projects — donosmond @ 8:17 am

One of the great things I love about blogging is that you can stand on your soapbox, and then one of your friends finds someone else to do the “soapboxing” for you. (Thanks Court!)

I’ve posted a couple things about “forwarded e-mails” in the past, but this little link, I think, sums it all up. :) –> Click Here! (It’s an oldy, but a goody)

Feel free to forward me the good e-mails!

Thanks,
