A pirate’s life isn’t easy; it takes a tough person. That’s okay with you, though, since you’re a tough person. You’re musical, and you’ve got a certain style if not flair. You’ll do just fine. Arr!

Star Struck!

I know, I know. This never happens to me. Not to brag, but given my family there are times when I have the opportunity to meet public figures and celebrities of various talents. This evening was no different, or so I thought. My father and I had the privilege to attend the opening night of Elaine Stritch at the Carlyle in New York. It was quite the event and there were many important people there. I was a little taken back by the opportunity to attend.

Anyway, I’ll cut to the chase. It was a dinner show and seated at our table was Phil Collins. (For those of you who don’t know, I’m a fan of his work with Genesis as well as his solo career.) I think I’ve got just about all of his albums. In fact, most of my drumming influence comes from him. It was just awesome to sit there and talk with him about what he is working on.

That was just too cool. Oh, did I mention that Rosie O’Donnell was there as well. Yeah, met her, too.

New York and a New You

Two months ago, a thought crept into my mind; “What am I doing in Utah?” To my detriment, or perhaps to my advantage, the thought continued to fester until more questions began to consume my mind. I think this is the reason why I’ve moved to New York. Kind of rash, don’t you think? Well, despite the quick decision, I’m writing this entry from the middle of Times Square. Yep! New York City!

Yellow taxis line the streets, flashing billboards capturing the attention of onlookers, and massive buildings scraping the passing sky.

Though it’s only been two days since arriving in the city, I’ve already starting finding my way around the city. Who knows, I could be local before long.
